E-Books

Minimum Requirement

Have to be at least 1,200 words. Poetry and other short stories should be added together in a collection, to meet the requirements. The author's work should include a table of contents to increase the navigation of the product.

The main goal of an e-book is to be straight to the point and eliminate fluff, lower publishing costs, and increase global distribution. E-books tend to be more interactive then their paper back brothers. Graphics and links add to the appeal and effectiveness of the product.

Format

E-books come in a PDF format and sometimes a Microsoft Word Document. The information can be sent to the consumer on a CD-ROM or through an E-mail system. The consumer can then print the ebook or browse and read the information on his/her computer.

History of ebooks

Computer Technology has led to the development of the electronic book or e-book. The ebook combines the storage, search capabilities, and adaptability of a computer with the simulated page format of a traditional book. Early versions of ebooks appeared in the late 1990s. By 2000, thousands of books were being digitized.

What are ebooks?

eBooks offer a new facet to the written word, allowing books to be circulated and enjoyed so much more easily. eBooks are books that are in digital format. eBooks can be ordered online, and delivered electronically to your computer or you can order one or more ebooks on CD. You save money with no shipping, no taxes, and low prices when you order on line and have them delivered to your computer via email. Adobe, the leader in ebook technology says: eBooks are electronic versions of books that can be viewed on a computer screen. Publishers, libraries, and retailers can now produce, manage, and distribute eBooks to anyone on any computer running Microsoft® Windows® or Mac OS software. Because Adobe® eBook software is based on the widely distributed Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) technology; you can now deliver eBooks with high visual fidelity in a way that fits your existing workflow.

Electronic Books (eBooks)
benefit:

Electronic Books, better known as ebooks, have begun to revolutionize the methods by which people read. The matter of convenience has been a big selling point for ebooks, because it is much easier to carry around a laptop or ebook reader rather than to carry a large amount of books. However, as with all new technological advances, the ebook has both proponents and opponenets.
